A German 19thC hand painted snuff box. It features a young gentleman proposing to his love. The text is in German but it roughly translates to:- "Best of girls believe me Eternal love I swear to you If you trust me and love me in return richly will I gift you with worldly goods And the priest's wedding blessing Will grant you honour and status" It measures approx. 8 cm diameter. It has a chip and small old repair to the flange of the lid and small edge chips to the rim of flange on base and base rim. There is an old area of repair to the black rim of the lid.
