An antique brass and fruitwood ‘misers’ snuff box. Which has a sliding heart-shaped door opening (for fingers to enter to take the pinch of snuff). Very elaborately engraved to both top and underside. Within the engraving on the top is an inscription ‘To J. JAMIESON, MARCH 31st 1875’. In great condition. Sadly though I can’t open the sliding door and not knowing much about snuff boxes I am loathed to force it with anything. A very nice item with fabulous engraved details.
