A wonderfully distinctive early 19th-century Scottish snuff box, handmade using a combination of natural bone and finely worked copper. The hinged copper lid is the most striking feature. Its entire surface is covered with extraordinarily detailed openwork filigree, a dense and continuous field of tiny raised flower or star-shaped motifs set on minute stems.
