Antique French “Mitrailleuse” ammunition case marked Fort Issy 1870, associated with the Franco-Prussian War / Siege of Paris. This is a rare and highly interesting militaria piece, relating to the early use of the Mitrailleuse, one of the first forms of machine gun employed by French forces during the conflict of 1870–71. Fort Issy was a key defensive position during the Siege of Paris, making this a desirable historical reference point for collectors. From a recent private collection.
