Jones Chalk &Dawson were established in 1896 and were renowned for producing high quality military uniform. They also held a Royal Warrant for the Belgian Royal Family. They were leading suppliers of military uniforms, cap badges and swords. During the First World War officers were usually required to purchase their own uniforms and equipment and firms such as Jones Chalk & Dawson would assist with items such as tunics, trousers and ceremonial dress. This plate could have been on a tailored officer's tunic, a dress cap or any of the other items they produced. This plate measures approximately 4cm x 4cm.
