Hawkins biographer John Chilton described the prevalent styles of tenor saxophone solos prior to Hawkins as "mooing" and "rubbery belches.". She was hired again in 1962 by Columbia Pictures. Once she had the signatures, she cut them from autograph books and stuck in larger albums / scrapbooks.
