Prior to the modern Tempex Nylon webbing set in the early 1980s and along with the standard green leather combat belt with a traditional square buckle. This Particular Belt was the only interlocking buckles belt used by the Army, but very common in the Navy, prior to the issue of modern Tempex webbing.
