HMS Conway. Royal Navy. Shipwreck. Brass Ships Badge. Original. Wrecked 1953.

£312.70

This ships badge comes from the wreck of HMS Conway, a wooden ship of the line, which in her later years served as a training ship. She was being towed to dry dock through the Menai Strait when she ran aground and sank in 1953. This piece of the ships badge was recovered by the Manchester Divers Club from the lower decks of the ship many years ago. It was on display in a maritime museum on Anglesey for many years until it closed. The brass plaque shows the battlements of the iconic Conway castle. It is mounted for display on a lovely piece of oak. Measures approximately 30cm tall x 18cm wide.
