NASA Astronaut William Bill Pailes signed STS-51-J Atlantis checking weather conditions prior to Landing Space Envelope. It was also the maiden voyage of the Atlantis orbiter. Pailes travelled over 1.6 million miles in 64 Earth orbits and logged more than 97 hours in space.
