Good original Turkish prisoner of war handmade bracelet " Lizzie, Egypt ". During World War I, Turkish prisoners of war held in Egypt by British forces often crafted beadwork items like snakes, necklaces, braclets and belts as a way to pass time and potentially earn extra rations or trade with other prisoners. These beadwork items, made from colourful glass beads, were a desireable souvenir produced in the prisoner of war camps. I hope Lizzie liked this, probably sent back home by her sweetheart Untouched, as found, one small break and possibly some bead loops from end absent. Please see all pictures.
