A historically significant pair of late Victorian Staffordshire porcelain plaques commemorating Lieutenant-General J.D.P. French during the Boer War (c. 1900). These were a core part of the Peter Thompson Collection (Ballymoney), a man renowned for his lifelong obsession with military history and the Napoleonic era. Condition: These are 'honest' survivors. One has an old professional repair and the other exhibits a stable hairline crack. They carry the battle-scars of 120+ years, including a historical dealer's valuation of £75. Perfect for a study or library where authenticity and provenance matter more than 'mint' perfection but priced accordingly to condition. The round plate is 9" and the rectangular plate 8.5x7"
