These tins each contained a bar of chocolate (made in the UK by Cadbury, Fry's and Rowntree's) and were a gift to British troops fighting the Boer War, wishing them a Happy New Year. Hudson Scott &Co manufactured 123,000 of these tins which have the message 'I wish you a Happy New Year written on the front.
