Boer war Qsa & KSA to black watch wounded at Magersfontein 1899 with research The 2nd Battalion of the Black Watch were a part of the Highland Brigade that fought in the Battle of Magersfontein during the Boer War, not World War II. The battle took place on December 10, 1899. The Black Watch, along with other Highland regiments, attacked Magersfontein Hill in a frontal assault, but were met with heavy fire from Boer trenches. The Black Watch suffered significant casualties, including 19 officers and over 300 men killed or wounded.
