The opposite side of the pitcher has a sepia transfer printed image of a Boer War soldier - A Gentleman in Khaki, signed by R Caton Woodville, dated 1899. The jug is decorated to one side with a poem by Rudyard Kipling, The Absent Minded Beggar.
