A particularly strong social history image, combining military and family life. The soldier looks as if he wears a Queen’s South Africa Medal (Boer War) alongside a second star-shaped campaign medal. Studio imprint for Lewis & Co., 6 Sandling Road, Maidstone, giving clear Kent provenance. Likely dating to the early 20th century / WW1 period (c.1910s), and showing a seasoned regular soldier rather than a wartime recruit. Condition is good for age, with expected light wear.
