Solid Silver Royal Navy HMS Ark Royal Royal Visit Commemorative 4” Pin Dish (d.1987) This fabulous find is in fine fettle and commemorates the visit of HMS Ark Royal, who passed through the Thames Barrier and anchored off Greenwich in June of 1987. The ship held a White Ensign Association Charity Banquet on the night of 8/6/87 with the Guest of Honour being Princess Alexandra, Queen Elizabeth II & the Queen Mother also attended the ship on an informal visit the following day. The pin dish has a raised ships crest fixed to the centre, with a White Ensign Association motif and date 8th June 1987 engraved to the surface. To the underside it’s hallmarked for London 1987 and features a well polished makers mark. Nice piece of Ark Royal history!
