HM Submarine No. 1 (Holland 1): Launched in 1901, this was the Royal Navy's very first submarine. After the submarine was decommissioned and later raised (it sank while being towed to the scrapyard in 1913), the Royal Navy Submarine Museum produced and sold small souvenir items to the public made from the salvaged materials—specifically from the lead plates of its original batteries and the teak wood from its internal fittings. This item is a moulded piece of battery lead. These items are historical naval curiosities aimed at collectors of submarine or maritime memorabilia.
