£163.52

Tripolitania – 2 Lire – 1943 – Allied Military Currency – VF+ Condition. This 2 Lire banknote was issued in 1943 for use in Tripolitania, the western province of modern-day Libya, during the Allied occupation of North Africa in World War II. It belongs to a short and rare series of Allied Military Currency (AMC) created specifically for the former Italian colonies, following the expulsion of Axis forces from the region. Printed by the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing, the design is intentionally simple and utilitarian. The obverse carries the clear inscription “Issued in Tripolitania”, alongside the denomination “2 Lire”, framed by fine engraving typical of wartime emergency issues.
