M51 M-1951 Second Pattern Fishtail Parka Hood Liner. U.S. Marine Corp second pattern hood liner for the M51 Fishtail parka. Very Rare USMC version of the M-1951 Fishtail Parka Hood Liner. This U.S. Marine Corp. version of the M51 hood liner is manufactured in a poplin cotton, a lighter-weight material than the first pattern version which use a heavy cotton sateen, the first pattern hoods and parkas were only produced for one year before production switched to the poplin fabric seen use here on this hood liner, the main reason being was that they were more expensive to produce, heavier on the wearer, and harder to dry when wet.
