One of the stalks is loose so needs tightening up, the middle stem prevents you screwing it the half turn it needs to tighten it up so ideally the middle stem needs to be unscrewed (it’s very tight) to allow you to do this; alternatively you could slide a very then piece of wood under the stalk to fill the gap, and this in turn would make it solid again. Worthwhile project to restore this unusual piece of mid-century décor.
