Medal to honour Private Ernest Warren of the Kings Own Yorkshire Infantry, latterly known as the Durham Infantry 1st 6th Battalion. Ernest was born in Wrenthorpe, near Wakefield in Yorkshire, in April 1892. He was killed in action in Flanders on 10th July 1917 and is buried in the Wancourt British Cemetery, Departement du Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France. He left a widow Ethel (nee Anderson) who he had married in 1914 in Holbeach, Leeds. This is in excellent condition. To date it has been kept in the family.
