An original 1914/15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal award to 44561 Sgt (Cpl on Star) C L Foster of the Royal Field Artillery. Sgt Foster was awarded the Military Medal in 1916. Carl Lawrence Foster was born at Skegby, Nottinghamshire on 10th February 1886. Carl arrived in France in November 1915. He was awarded the Military Medal whilst serving with 7th Divisional Ammunition Column His Military Medal was gazetted on 11th November 1916, for “Operations on the Somme”. By 1939, he was a sub postmaster in Newcastle. He retired in 1954. Carl died at Benton, Newcastle in 1979, aged 93. Please see photos for condition.
