This beautiful trench art vase is decorated in Ivy and the word “Yser.” In 1917, the primary fighting along the Yser was centered on the Belgian coastal sector, though the famous Battle of the Yser itself was fought in October 1914. By 1917, this static Yser Front saw two major related operations: the failed amphibious plan known as Operation Hush and the German assault known as the Battle of the Dunes.
