WW1 British Army Officers Boot Jockeys - Cavalry Horse Artillery - Nickel Plated. These ingenious metal devices were placed at the front and rear open edge of a long leather boot to ease the calve into the boot. The last 2 x photos show them on a Wellington for effect……but you get the idea! These have been well used and have wear but still perform their function.
