This WW1 Trench Art decorated 1917 shell case from a French field gun is a unique and historical collectable item. Artisans of World War I would often decorate shell cases with intricate designs and artwork - this particular shell case, dated 1917, has been richly decorated and, in addition to it's rather abstract marking, has an acorn and oak leaf design. Approx size:- 28 cm high x 9 cm diameter at rim. The shell case is a French 75 mm artillery shell casing. The 75 DEC was used for the "Canon de 75 modele 1897" The manufacturer (mark BX) was "Atelier de Construction de Bordeaux". It was made in 1917. Please see our photographs for condition.
