He enlisted with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (RNVR) on 01/10/1914. He was assigned the service number L.Z/512 (London). E. V. CROOKENDEN. He had two sisters by 1901, Mabel and Elsie. Crookenden is recorded in the 1914-1918 Board of Trade Rolls of Honour for this service.
