Lieutenant M. N. Tufnell of HMS Blencathra, wasawarded a Distinguished Service Cross in December, 1940,“ for bravery in defence of a Channel convoy.”. HMS Blencathra first reported for active duty in January 1941 with the 1st Destroyer Flotilla, based at Portsmouth.
