A WWII Second World War Greek Sacred Legion badge, dated 1942 on the reverse. The GSL worked closely with the British Long Range Desert Group and SAS during the North Africa Campaign. The most prominent text is on a central banner: "Η ΤΑΝ Η ΕΠΙ ΤΑΣ" (H TAN H E P I TÁN), meaning "With your shield or on it" or more poetically, "Return Victorious or Dead". The reverse reads "ΙΕΡΟΣ ΛΟΧΟΣ" (Ieros Lochos), meaning "Sacred Company" or "Sacred Squadron" with the year "1942" Quite rare, the badge is in excellent overall condition with what appears to be a replacement pin.
