The Lyall Grant Family has a strong military history with many being high ranking officers including Brigadiers, colonels and Lieutenant Colonels. He was also a Puisne Judge of Ceylon. Later he was the Chief Justice of Jamaica where he tried the Worlds first Rastafarian Leonard Howell.
