Banks flew all of his operational sorties as a Rear Gunner. Observer's and Air Gunner's Flying Log Book. Leading Air Crew and later Flying Officer Banks began his RAF flying career as an Air Gunner in June 1942, training on the Airspeed Botha before qualifying at RAF Morpeth on 24th July 1942.
