WWI Trench Art Brass Etched Letter Opener Bullet Handle Button Finial Military

£10

This is a brass letter opener, created by a British soldier during World War I, commonly referred to as a piece of Trench Art. The opener is made of three pieces, a flat blade which has been etched with a floral pattern, a handle which looks like an Enfield rifle bullet, and a finial made up from a British general service button. At present the blade and handle are not attached. Either the handle has come loose or was never joined. A nice piece of military history.
