This is a very rare snuff box from one of the original manufacturers from Laurencekirk in NE Scotland. It is walnut in my opinion and the shape defines it as one of the earlier pieces produced by Stiven. The snuff box is in very good condition with slight wear commensurate with its age and usage. The hinge is nice and tight and operates smoothly. Inside it the tin layer layer has mostly gone but it has a makers mark stamped to the lid, C. Stiven & Sons, Box Makers to Her Majesty , Laurencekirk. It is approximately 10cm by 5cm and 3cm deep. Scottish. C1840. Edit: Better photos added Please ask any questions before buying
