On the 31st of December 1916, he landed in France. On the 17th he was admitted to the 77 Field Ambulance his wound was noted as severe. On the 23rd, he arrived in England and was admitted to the 3rd Canadian General Hospital with the wound to the thumb and two other small wounds.
